Short answer: there is no MetaTrader 6. MetaQuotes — the company behind the MetaTrader platforms — has never released an "MT6". The lineup is MetaTrader 4 (MT4, 2005) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5, 2010), and MT5 is the latest, most capable version. If you came looking for "MetaTrader 6", MT5 is what you actually want.
Is MetaTrader 6 real?
No. As of 2026, MetaQuotes has not announced or released MetaTrader 6. Pages promising an "MT6 download" are mislabelled — there is no such product, and any file claiming to be "MetaTrader 6" is not official. Use MT5 from a regulated broker instead.
MetaTrader 5 is the current version
MT5 is the successor to MT4 and MetaQuotes' flagship platform. Versus MT4 it adds multi-asset trading (forex, stocks, indices, commodities, crypto), 21 timeframes and 38 built-in indicators (against MT4's 9 and 30), an economic calendar, depth of market, and both hedging and netting account modes. Expert Advisors and one-click trading carry over.
How to get MetaTrader 5
You don't download MT5 as a standalone product — you get it from a broker that offers MT5, then log in with that broker's account. Brokers offering MT5:

Download and install MT5
- Open an account with a broker that offers MT5 (above).
